They consider the relgious books to contain truths about such matters. These books do not give description of reality that can be verifiable by human knowledge and methods of observing the world. On the other hand scientists generally work from the assumption that things happen as a result of purely natural laws. They use the “scientific method” to discover new insights in to nature. Most scientists do not see God regularly intruding in the universe and setting aside natural laws and perfoming miraculous acts.
